BOA:

Cinderella – For the Boa Group – The Old Rep Theatre – Dec 2025 – Tech Swing

For this show I was in yr12 and it was the yr13 that were running the show so our role for the people in yr12 who volunteered was to fill in and be a tech swing for any roles that needed filling such as follow spot operator and qlab operator.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest – For Boa Group – Old Rep Theatre – 12th April/17th April – LX Programmer

This was the 1st show of the group of 3 acting shows which meant that we had to load everything into the theatre meaning that out of the 3 acting shows it had taken the longest to get in to. Even thought the get in took a while I was still able to get the show programmed with only a couple of minor things to change between 2 different casts.

Shakespeare In Love – For Boa Group – Old Rep Theatre – 20th April/24th April – LX Programmer

For this show the lighting designer had stepped back slightly and the director did the most of it which worked quite well since he had a very specific idea of what he wanted meaning that it was straight forward to get what he wanted onto the stage.

A Monster Calls – For BOA Group – Old Rep Theatre – 27th April/1st May – LX Programmer

For this show I there were 2 cast which for this show meant that there were a few cues that needed changing and others that needed deleting and others being needed to be added. Because of this it added an extra layer of difficulty as things needed to be remarked and changed in the DSM Prompt copy to make everything run as normal. This meant that we were working right up until house opened doing things like deleting cues and then having to run back through the set of cues to make sure that there as little live movements of the lights as possible so that it was as professional as possible ready for the 2 runs of the show.

Yr10 Battle of The Bands Dance Shows – For BOA Group – The BOA Theatre – 29th June/4th July – LX Designer/Programmer/Op

For this show we had been given a lot of information and free roam for deciding what the rig will be. Because of everything being decided by us we were able to take a vectorworks model of the BOA Theatre and implementing all of the lighting fixtures that we wanted to use for the show. Once we had each light placed where we wanted it to be we exported from vectorworks into capture to be able to start previs a couple weeks before getting into the theatre as there were 19 songs to get programmed. We managed to get around 13 songs programmed since we didn’t have the most time at the theatre. To make the show run smoothly we decided to OSC the majority of songs via QLab only avoiding the songs where there were multiple cues extremely close to each other which would have taken a long time to do.

Yr12 5678 Dance Shows – For BOA Group – The Crescent Theatre – 13th July/16th July – LX Designer/Programmer/Op

For this show I was mainly doing everything lighting wise for this show. With this show we only had a very small-time window to get everything set up and teched ready for run throughs and the shows. We did the get in on the Monday morning and had to have everything ready for ideally midday. Because of the time constraints we didn’t have a filled-out rig to go with, so we had to work with what equipment we had time to set up. After we had finished the get in it was straight into tech with going from song to song seeing what the dancers were wearing to make the lighting suit the performances. After a couple of days of tech we then moved on to the last rehearsals before the final shows to be able to finish on the Wednesday evening.

Other Experience:

Fame – John Henry Newman Catholic School – Jan 2026 – LX Designer/Programmer/Operator

For this show because we only had a couple of days before the show everything needed programming during the only 2 tech runs and as I was going along, I would base each lighting state from a couple of notes left on the script from the designer and then I had the final decision on what the final look would be.

South and City College End of Year Show – PRG – 11th May/14th May – Local Crew

At BOA a few of us were given the opportunity to go to the PRG Bridge venue at the Longbridge warehouse which during the get in included things like building the trusses, rigging and cabling lights, building stage deck, setting up the PA system. For the get out we then had to pack everything away which included derigging and stripping out all of the cable and lights and also breaking apart the trusses again.
